On the 5th Regional Belarus-Pomerania Economic Forum

On 3 October, 2013 the Pomeranian voivodeship of Poland hosted the first day of the 5th jubilee Regional Belarus-Pomerania Economic Forum.



The Forum was organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Gdansk in conjunction with the Marshal’s Office of the Pomeranian voivodeship, with assistance from the regional authorities of Pomerania and a few Polish business associations.

The Belarusian party was represented by a business delegation of Grodno region led by Deputy Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee Mr.Alexander Rusanov.

The delegation arriving at the Forum included the Deputy Director General of the Grodno Division of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Head of Administration of the Grodnoinvest Free Economic Zone, senior executives and representatives of several Belarusian companies who were interested in marketing their products abroad and implementing joint projects.

Those in attendance at the two-day Forum from the Polish side included representatives of over 80 Polish businesses, as well as executives and leaders of the voivodeship and regional authorities, seven Pomeranian cities and communities, commercial and industrial associations.

The keynote speakers to address the Forum were head of the Grodno delegation Mr.Alexander Rusanov, marshal of the Pomeranian voivodeship Mr.Mieczysław Struk, Ambassador of Belarus to Poland Viktar Gaisenak, Consul General of Belarus in Gdansk Mr.Aleksandr Korol, Director General of the Polish-Belarusian Commercial Chamber Mr.Kazimierz Zdunowski.

Within the Forum the presentation of the tourist packages for the Ice Hockey World Championship 2014 in Minsk was organized.

The Forum audience was advised in detail about the launch of the Belarus-China Industrial Park.

The Forum involved a business matchmaking session between the attending Belarusian and Polish enterprises and roundtables on co-operation in fish processing and tourism.

Following the first day of the Forum, four formal bilateral documents were signed including the Agreement for Co-operation between the Grodno Division of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Starogard Business Club, Agreement for Co-operation between the Grodno Division of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Wejherowo, Agreement for Co-operation between the Grodno Division of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Kashubian Union of Employers, Agreement for Tourism Development between the Tourism Division of the Grodnoinvest Free Economic Zone and Gdansk Division of the Polish Tourism Chamber.

The Forum also resulted in the approval of a Joint Declaration signed by the heads of Polish and Belarusian business associations on behalf of all participants.

During the second day the Belarusian delegation and members of business community are expected to visit Polish enterprises and hold talks about the co-operation in the food industry, fish processing and other areas.
