On the Meeting with Director-General of the World Health Organization

On November 16, 2012 Mr.Mikhail Khvostov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, met with Ms.Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization.

During the meeting the parties discussed the prospects of cooperation between Belarus and the WHO.


Ms. Margaret Chan marked Belarus progress in developing national health care, in particular, decrease in infant and child mortality and national experience in transplantology, cardio- and neurosurgery.


Ms.Margaret Chan confirmed that WHO will continue to render technical assistance to Belarus in prevention and treatment of non-contagious diseases, development of disease control, struggle against infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis.


Mr. Mikhail Khvostov tendered to Ms. Margaret Chan the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Belarus to visit our country and get acquainted with the national experience in managing issues of health care.
