On Belarus-Ireland Consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs

On July 8, 2013 political consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Ireland took place in Dublin.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Ms.Alena Kupchyna, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, the Irish – by Ms.Lucinda Creighton, Minister for European Affairs.

During the negotiations special attention was paid to the prospects of Belarus-Ireland interaction in trade and investments, as well humanitarian and cultural cooperation.

Within the consultations the parties discussed the development of bilateral legal framework, Belarus-EU political, trade and economic relations, the participation of our country in Eastern Partnership program, Belarus’ cooperation with OSCE and Council of Europe.

Within the visit the Belarusian delegation held meetings with Ms.Geraldine Byrne Nason, Second Secretary General of the EU department of the Ireland’s Prime-Minister Office, and the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr.Pat Breen. The Irish side was informed on social and economic situation in Belarus, relations within the Customs Union and Common Free Market Zone. The parties considered the prospects of Belarus-Ireland relations development and Minsk-Brussels interaction.
