Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov meeting with Antonius Broek, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Belarus

Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov met with Antonius Broek, UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Belarus, as he assumed his office in Belarus.

The parties explored the priority areas of further co-operation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the UN Mission. Belarus counts on the support of the UN organizations and agencies in studying and implementing the advanced international expertise in terms of raising energy efficiency and savings, attracting foreign investments, mitigating the long-term effects of the Chernobyl catastrophe. Special focus was brought to the promotion of foreign policy initiatives of Belarus in the international arena, including easier access to the technologies of alternative and renewable energy for the developing and transition economies, tighter co-ordination of international efforts in combating human trafficking.
