Tourism in Belarus

Belarus of today is a combination of technological progress and ancient traditions, religious and secular customs, urbanization and virgin nature. Everyone can find something to his or her liking in Belarus. Whether you love avant-garde or classical art, cinema, theater, sport, clubs, or no-fuss recreation – Belarus has it all. That makes this hospitable country attractive for tourists whose number is growing on a yearly basis.

Travelers are lured by the rich historical and cultural heritage – a host of architectural and cultural monuments, four of which have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Moderate continental climate, crystal-clear air, and virgin landscapes attract lovers of peaceful and solitary alfresco recreation; they can visit national parks and numerous nature reserves.

More and more tourists lean toward recreation tourism. There are nearly one hundred sanatoria in Belarus, which offer a wide range of medical services at a great value for money price. Agroecotourism is becoming increasingly popular.

Comfortable cottages with saunas, pergolas located along the banks of picturesque rivers and lakes with dedicated fishing and swimming places attract hosts of tourists every year. They are open all the year round. You can bring your kids with you; you can even celebrate New Year and Christmas there.

There are agrousadbas in Belarus, country houses preserving the local flavor and the traditional Belarusian style but stuffed with the latest technological devices and facilities.

There are around 700 travel routes in Belarus, including over 50 in Minsk.

The country is building up its hospitality industry. In 2008, 222 new and refurbished recreation facilities were put in service. Around 150 new facilities were built: new hotels, restaurants, sporting facilities. They include Cronon Park Hotel in Grodno, a hospitality center Pansky Sad in the Mozyr region, Gomel oblast; an ice arena in Bobruisk.

Tourists can visit the equestrian center Gippika in the Oshmyany region, Grodno oblast. The center provides a comfortable environment for both peaceful family recreation and boisterous friends’ gatherings.
