On the Election of Belarus to a Number of UN Bodies

On April 23, 2014 Belarus was unanimously elected by Member States of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at its regular session to a number of important UN bodies, including Commission on Population and Development, Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Governing Council of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), Executive Committee of the Programme of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and Committee for Programme and Coordination.

Being a member of these bodies
,Belarus together with other countries would elaborate recommendations to resolve urgent issues of social, economic and demographic development of the society and improve conditions of its most vulnerable groups, among them —  children and refugees.

Among priorities of
Belarus in these UN bodies — development and implementation of national, regional and globalpolicies and strategies aimed at effective economic and social support of populationin collaboration with the UN agencies.
