Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei meets the President of the IFRC F.Rocca

On November 25, 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei met with President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Francesco Rocca.

Vladimir Makei informed his interlocutor about the development of the situation with migrants on the western border of the country and about Belarus' approaches to solving this issue, including cooperation with international organizations.

The sides exchanged views on the migration problem and unanimously outlined the global nature of this challenge, which is not limited to the situation on the border of Belarus, confirmed that there is no alternative to dialogue and cooperation of all interested in eliminating its causes.

The Minister affirmed the readiness and openness of the Belarusian side to cooperate with international organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to people who are in a difficult situation at the border. He also thanked the interlocutor for the funds allocated to the Belarusian Red Cross Society from the Emergency Fund of the Federation to assist these persons.

Francesco Rocca highly appreciated the efforts of the Belarusian side in the framework of bilateral cooperation with the IFRC.

The parties agreed on further interaction.
