Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Office in Geneva L.Belskaya participates in the session of the UNCTAD Trade and Development Board

22 June 2022

On June 22, 2022 the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Office in Geneva, Larysa Belskaya, speaking at the 69th  session of the UNCTAD Trade and Development Board drew attention to unilateral coercive measures which undermine the fulfillment of the UNCTAD mandate, pose a threat to the sustainable economic development of Member States and block mutually beneficial international trade.

The Permanent Representative recalled the readiness of Belarus to cooperate constructively with the UN, UNCTAD, and all interested governments to tackle the pressing challenges of the global food security, including those related to the transit of Ukrainian grain to world markets. This approach was expressed by the President of the Republic of Belarus A.Lukashenko in a conversation with the UN Secretary-General A.Guterres, held earlier this month.

L.Belskaya also noted that Belarus would support UNCTAD’s efforts in strengthening the national capacity of middle-income countries in the field of trade and development, and encouraging global and interregional partnerships to implement the Sustainable Development Goals.
