On the Ceremonial Session of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO

On April 18, 2014 the ceremonial session of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO took place in the National Library of Belarus under the honorary chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mr.Anatoliy Tozik. The session is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Belarus’ membership in the Organization.
 

UNESCO Director-General Ms.Irina Bokova took part in the event and addressed the members of the National Commission, the representatives of Belarusian educational establishments, scientific, cultural and public sphere.
 
The discussion on Belarus – UNESCO cooperation development took place.
 
The participants of the session marked the importance of good education, its availability for everyone and the importance of using information technologies in education.
 
 
During the session the attention was paid to UNESCO scientific programs that are the additional motivation for the development of Belarusian science, particularly in the management of ecological systems and water resources on the territory of Belarus.
 
Special attention was paid to cultural cooperation that is the most productive sphere of Belarus-UNESCO interaction. Belarus is the member of the key UNESCO conventions in the sphere and is represented in all the lists of heritage of the Organization. The participants of the session discussed the role of culture in socio-economic development of the country, its contribution into the establishment of the international peace and security.
 
The participation of the youth leaders that addressed the session of the National Commission underlined the continuity of generations in promoting UNESCO humanitarian values in Belarus.
