On Ratification by the Belarusian Parliament of Belarus-Croatia Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation

The Chamber of Representatives of the National Assembly has ratified the agreement between Belarus and Croatia on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of evasion of income and capital taxes.

According to the Deputy Tax Minister Larisa Kondratova, the agreement was signed in Zagreb on June 11, 2003. The agreement is aimed at the regulation of tax interactions between Belarus and Croatia, clear distribution of the taxing power between the sides and introduction of on the preventive measures against tax evasion by the citizens and legal entities of the two states. Ratification of the agreement will contribute to the further development and strengthening of the bilateral cooperation in the economic and technical sphere on the mutually beneficial basis, Larisa Kondratova underscored.

The aims and contents of the agreement are similar to ones of the international agreements of Belarus on avoidance of double taxation. In particular, the Chamber of Representatives of the 2nd convocation has ratified such agreements with Israel, Austria, Armenia, Lebanon, Kuwait, Mongolia, South Africa, Bahrain and others.
