Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus V.Makei participates in the opening of the exposition “Genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War”

On July 18, 2022 on the sidelines of the annual seminar of the heads of the Belarusian foreign missions, the opening of the exposition “Genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War” took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

 

 

The exposition is being held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, the Museum of the History of the City of Minsk and the National Library of Belarus.

The event has been attended by the representatives of Belarusian government agencies, cultural and academic circles, heads of foreign diplomatic missions represented in our country, as well as heads of Belarusian foreign institutions.

In his speech, Minister Vladimir Makei stressed that “for the first time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within its walls is conducting such, in fact, a history lesson that will allow to really plunge into the terrible and harsh past and to once again comprehend the long and painful path of the Belarusian people to their independence and their own statehood” .

The Minister of Foreign Affairs urged to think about what the thoughtless policy of ignoring the lessons of history leads to and to draw conclusions on how to preserve the thread that unites our past, present and future.

The Director of the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, Vladimir Voropaev, also addressed the participants of the grand opening of the exposition and emphasized the importance and relevance of holding such events.
