On the 47th Session of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law

Forty-seventh session of the UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) has concluded its work at UN headquarters in New York (USA). The Commission, of which Belarus is a member, has considered the reports of six UNCITRAL working groups on such topics as small and medium-sized enterprises; arbitration and conciliation; online dispute resolution; e-commerce; insolvency; security interests.

The adoption of a draft convention on transparency in treaty-based investor-State arbitration is one of the key outcomes of the session. The Convention creates an international legal mechanism for applying the UNCITRAL rules of transparency, developed with active participation of delegation of Belarus, to investment treaties. The Commission also continued to elaborate guide to the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards of 1958 and considered its future work, including such topics as public procurement and public-private partnerships.

Belarusian delegation in the session was headed by Mr. Dmitry Spresov, Deputy Head of the General Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
