Belarus Signs Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation to Integrate Druzhba and Adria Oil Pipelines (press release by MFA press service)

On December 16, 2002 Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation within the project to integrate Druzhba and Adria oil pipelines in Zagreb (Croatia).

It is planned to use the capacities of the pipelines to deliver Russian oil to Amishal port (Croatia, coast of the Adriatic Sea) and then transport it to other foreign countries. A part of the pipeline goes through Gomel region in Belarus.

At the initial stage of the project, it is planned to transport 5 million tons of oil, after the pipeline is modernized – up to 15 million tons per year.

Vice-President of Belarusian Oil and Chemical Concern Belneftekhim Sergei Mishin was authorized by the Belarusian government to sign the agreement.

Croatian president Stepan Mesic met with the representatives of the signing countries. The procedure was attended by Croatian Prime-Minister Ivitsa Racan and Minister of Economy Liubo Yurcic, representatives of the Belarusian Embassy to Austria.
