29 April 2003

The completed transcontinental Yamal-Europe gas-main with one of its segments passing across Belarus transports some 26 million m³ of natural gas in the German direction.

At present three more compressor stations are under construction in Orsha, Krupki and Nesvizh.

The reliability of the Belarusian pipeline section will be examined by Orgenergogaz joint-stock company (Russia) – the general contractor on start-and-adjustment of Yamal-Europe gas main.

The Belarusian segment totals 575 km. The builders went through 199.6 km of bogs, 75 times they crossed rivers, 10 railways, 42 motorways, 3 power transmission networks, 11 pipelines and 5 trunk cables. Besides, said the source they had to clear 257.4 km of woods and reactivate 317.6 km of land.

On the territory of Poland the pipeline was constructed by EuroPolGas, created by Russia’s Gazprom and Polish state oil and gas company, on the territory of Germany – by Wingas, joint venture of Gazprom and Wintershall.
