Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus I.Nazaruk takes part in the Seventh Meeting of the Advisory Council for the Affairs of Belarusians Abroad

On 7 December 2022, the seventh meeting of the Advisory Council for the Affairs of Belarusians Abroad was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Igor Nazaruk.

Heads of the Belarusian diaspora organisations abroad - members of the Council, representatives of state bodies and institutions, public organisations attended the event.

I.Nazaruk noted that the Council continues to be an effective platform for a constructive dialogue between the state and the public associations of Belarusians abroad.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Belarusian State will continue supporting our compatriots abroad in their activities aimed at promoting national culture, language and history, preserving traditions and spiritual values in order to develop the national and cultural identity of the Belarusian diaspora.

During the event the participants reviewed the results of the joint work in 2021-2022, the socio-political and socio-economic situation in the country, and discussed plans for further deepen cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to the joint activities on drawing the attention of international community to the problems of preserving the historical truth, preventing the revision of history and strengthening the unity of the Belarusian people, including in the framework of 2022 Year of Historical Memory in Belarus.

For reference: The Advisory Council was established in 2015 in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Belarusians Abroad". According to this piece of legislation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is tasked with coordinating the development of cooperation with the Belarusian diaspora.
