Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus V.Makei participates in the seminar of heads of the Belarusian diplomatic missions

On July 18-22, 2022 Minsk hosts an annual seminar of the heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Republic of Belarus.

The training week at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vladimir Makei.

In his speech, V.Makei noted that the current geopolitical situation and recent changes in the architecture of international security require even greater initiative and perseverance from the Belarusian diplomacy in ensuring the solution of the tasks set by the Head of State. It was emphasized that for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Belarusian diplomatic missions abroad, an indisputable and unconditional priority is the maximum assistance to the preservation of the sovereignty and independence of Belarus, the creation of internal and external conditions for the progressive development of the country, and the formation of a true image of Belarus abroad. “Based on our positions, the adequacy and inviolability of which are obvious to us, it is necessary to constantly think about new elements of both our positive and counter-actions,” the Minister drew the attention of the audience.

At the same time, V.Makei emphasized that despite the difficult political situation, the tasks of increasing and diversifying exports retain its absolute importance in the work of Belarusian foreign institutions. “In the second half of the year, it is necessary to use all the possibilities and reserves to the maximum in order to achieve the desired result,” instructed the Foreign Minister.

The seminar will be focused on the issues of import substitution in the context of countering Western sanctions, analysis of Western sanctions in the banking sector and the possibilities of their minimization; topical issues of ensuring passenger and cargo air transportation; logistics of road transport in the context of sanctions restrictions; development of railway transport corridors, provision of exporters and importers with rolling stock; prospects for increasing the export of construction services, the development of inbound tourism.

Attention will also be paid to the topic of preserving historical truth and countering attempts to falsify history.

The participants of the seminar will consider in detail the integration issues, issues of investment, digitalization, information work, international cooperation in the energy, educational and humanitarian fields. The program of the stay of the heads of foreign missions in Minsk provides for business meetings with heads of ministries and departments of our country.

In addition, the meetings are planned with the leadership of the Government of the Republic of Belarus, the Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Belarus, the director of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, field events, visits to the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Trostenets Memorial Complex will be held.
