Videoconference of Ambassador/Permanent Representative of Belarus P.Vzyatkin with the Executive Director of the UNEP

On May 6, 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Kenya, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Pavel Vzyatkin held a videoconference with Executive Director of the UNEP Inger Andersen.

The Permanent Representative of Belarus noted the active contribution of the UNEP to achieving Sustainable Development Goals and informed that a number of projects are being implemented currently in Belarus aimed at creating a “green economy” and protecting the environment.

During the conversation, the interlocutors reached an agreement on sending to the UNEP a package of projects developed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, for the successful implementation of which the Belarusian side is interested in the UNEP support.

In turn, the Executive Director of the UNEP stressed that the initiatives of the Belarusian side to achieve the "green economy" meet the interests and goals of the UN Environment Program and expressed readiness to provide the necessary assistance in the implementation of joint work plans. I.Andersen also noted the positive experience of the UNEP with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, the high level of competence of Belarusian experts and the efforts of our country to implement national programs for environmental protection.
