Deputy Foreign Minister S.Aleinik takes part in the High-Level Meeting to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement

On October 11-12, 2021 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, takes part in the High-Level Meeting to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement, which takes place in Belgrade (Serbia).

In his statement, S.Aleinik noted that the Non-Aligned Movement, which unites the majority of the UN member states, plays an important role on the international arena in building a more fair, secure and sustainable world order.

The Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that the Non-Aligned Movement has all the potential required to develop joint measures in response to the global challenges of the modern era, which include unilateral coercive measures by individual states against other sovereign countries.

S.Aleinik welcomed the efforts of the Movement's parties aimed at rejecting illegal unilateral political and economic sanctions against sovereign states and advocated the need to intensify joint counteraction to such destructive actions that violate international law and hinder the sustainable development of states.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs held brief conversation with the Chair of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selakovic. The parties discussed the current bilateral agenda, emphasized the traditionally friendly character of the interstate dialogue.

At the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Vershinin, the sides discussed cooperation in international organizations. The parties noted the complete coincidence of Belarus’ and Russia’ stances on a number of topical international issues, including human rights and the strengthening of international security, arms control and disarmament.

The expansion of trade and economic cooperation and mutual support in multilateral organizations were discussed at the meetings of S.Aleinik with the Minister of State of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India, Meenakashi Lekhi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea, Osman Saleh, the Minister of State for Regional Cooperation of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Tharaka Balasuriya, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Felix Plasencia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Yemen, Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada Colindres, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah bin Faisal Farhan Al Saud, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Namibia, Jenelly Matundu.
