Minister S.Aleinik meets the Minister of Trade, Investment and Industry and Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of Kenya

On June 7, 2023 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, met with the Minister of Trade, Investment and Industry of the Republic of Kenya, Moses Kuria, and the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mithika Linturi. 

The Ministers discussed the issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture, food security, industrial cooperation, and the supply of Belarusian equipment.In this context, the possibilities of using the advanced Belarusian experience and technologies in the creation of food industry enterprises in Kenya were also considered.

The parties are currently working on a number of bilateral agreements, including basic economic agreements. In this regard, special attention was paid to the issues of accelerating the work on their conclusion. 

During the meeting, the parties stated the coincidence of positions that the peaceful settlement of any interstate conflicts is the key to sustainable development of countries and regions. 

The prospects for the exchange of visits at various levels were considered and mutual interest was confirmed in continuing work to bring relations between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership. 

The Kenyan delegation is visiting Belarus as a follow-up to the agreements reached during the official visit of Minister S.Aleinik to Nairobi in April 2023. 

The main elements of the program of the visit to Belarus of the heads of key Kenyan ministries will be business meetings within the framework of the Belarusian Agro-Industrial Week and the BELAGRO-2023 exhibition, substantive negotiations at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, visits to leading enterprises of the agro-industrial complex and industry of Belarus.

It is planned to get acquainted with the Hi-Tech Park, learn more about the Belarusian experience and the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the field of digitalization and the application of new technologies in the economy. Kenya has been working for several years to create its own high-tech park called Silicon Savannah.
