Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S.Aleinik participates in the UNIDO General Conference

On November 30, 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik, as the head of the Belarusian delegation, delivered a speech at the plenary session of the 19th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna.

In his speech, S.Aleinik emphasized the importance of the organization's effective activities and ongoing efforts for sustainable and inclusive industrial development of the countries of the world, including assistance in the early recovery of industry after the pandemic on a more environmentally friendly and technological basis.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus especially welcomed the efforts of the Organization in the sphere of the circular economy, ecology and energy, the use of digitalization to accelerate the transition to more efficient models of industrial production, as well as the desire to fully take into account the interests and needs of different categories of member states, especially countries with average income.

The Head of the Belarusian delegation congratulated Gerd Muller on his appointment as head of UNIDO and assured of Belarus’s readiness to continue active interaction and cooperation in all areas of the Organization’s work. After the session, S.Aleinik also met with the new UNIDO Director General, during which the current and future projects of technical cooperation of the Organization in Belarus were discussed.
