Sergei Martynov, Foreign Minister of Belarus, commenting to the media on the results of the meeting with Alexander Stubb, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, held 7 October in the Belarus Foreign Ministry

Today we are hosting Alexander Stubb, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, on an official visit to Belarus.

There were talks held in the Foreign Ministry and a meeting with the President of the Republic of Belarus.

Our negotiation went about nearly all issues of interaction within the OSCE including the run-up to the OSCE Ministerial Meeting due to be held in Helsinki on 4–5 December.

We have discussed OSCE engagement in projects in this country as well as Belarus’ co-operation with other European organizations including the European Union and put some focus on the bilateral relations.

We trust – and we agreed strongly on this point – that Belarus, OSCE and EU should open a new chapter in our relationships, and both parties should work towards this end.
