Secretary of State of the Holy See Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone set to pay an official visit to the Republic of Belarus
On 18–22 June 2008 Secretary of State of the Holy See Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone will be visiting the Republic of Belarus on the invitation of the Belarusian Government.
The Secretary of State of the Holy See is expected to meet with President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. The programme of stay will also include meetings with Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov, Commissioner for Religions and Nationalities Leonid Gulyako.
On 22 June, the Secretary of State of the Holy See will lay a wreath to the memorial in Victory Square in Minsk.
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone is also scheduled to meet with Metropolite of Minsk and Slutsk Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.
In the course of his stay, the Secretary of State of the Holy See will visit the Belarusian State University to give a lecture to teachers and students, entitled: «Faith and Mind: The ways to talk about God for a modern person».
The visit will also include traveling to Pinsk and Grodno, meeting with members of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Belarus, and a number of religious events.
