On 27–28 January 2010, a delegation of experts of the European Commission led by Jan De Ceuster, head of the unit dealing with international aspects of migration and visa policy, visited Minsk.

A meeting in the Belarus Foreign Ministry, with participation of experts from a number of state agencies led by the Head of the Consular Directorate of the Foreign Ministry, Alexander Ostrovsky, saw a thorough exchange of views on possible facilitation of travel and on visa fee reduction for the European and Belarus nationals by way of relevant agreements between Belarus and the EU.

The visit went on with a meeting in the Department of citizenship and migration of the Belarus Interior Ministry to discuss migration issues followed by a tour to a passport bureau of the Interior Ministry.
