United Nations Children's Fund

Belarus and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) co-operate actively on maternal and childcare and on promoting child rights under a specific country programme for 2006–2010 with a budget worth $5.4 million.

In 2007 Belarus and UNICEF signed the Basic Co-operation Agreement which sets out legal framework for the UNICEF activities in Belarus. In 2009, this agreement entered into force.

In 2008, a full-fledged UNICEF country office started operating in Minsk , after several years of work under regional office in Moscow.

UNICEF continues to implement in Belarus a number of technical and humanitarian projects aimed to support our efforts in fighting human trafficking, child health care, HIV/AIDS, child rights, etc.

We are pleased to get continued UNICEF support of our efforts both nationally and globally on standing up to trafficking in persons, especially women and children.

Our co-operation with UNICEF is expected to continue under a new country programme for 2011–2015.
