In accordance with the Regulations for the Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, approved by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 978 dated 31 July 2006, the Department performs the following tasks:
- Promotes exports of goods and services;
- Coordinates the establishment and application of foreign trade regimes of the Republic of Belarus;
- Participates in the development and implementation of state programs on social and economic development of Belarus in terms of foreign trade activity;
- Oversees the negotiations and the drafting of documents on Belarus’ accession to the World Trade Organization;
- Coordinates the development and implementation of national programs for export promotion;
- Studies foreign trade of the Republic of Belarus, including foreign trade network and geographical structures;
- Studies foreign trade balance and develops predictive indicators of foreign trade;
- Coordinates tariff regulation of foreign trade;
- Monitors the implementation of non-tariff regulation of foreign trade, as well as the exrecise of customs legislation in respect of Belarus international obligations in this area, assesses the effectiveness of non-tariff regulations;
- Implements trade remedies in foreign trade on the basis of investigations carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
- Participates in the development of programs on how to enhance Belarus’ export potential;
- Protects economic interests of the Republic of Belarus, natural persons and legal entities of the Republic of Belarus abroad;
- Assists in raising inward foreign investment, an investment profile of Belarus abroad and Belarus’ investment rating.
